Fire crews rescue lamb from sewage shaft near Pateley Bridge

The young sheep fell down the shaft in Glasshouses on Saturday afternoon.

  • Firefighters from Summerbridge were called out at around 3.45pm
  • The lamb fell around 6m down the shaft
  • Crews posed for photos with the rescued animal after it's safe retrieval

Firefighters were called out to perform an unusual animal rescue near Pateley Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

A young lamb had fallen 6m down a sewage shaft.

It happened in Glasshouses at around 3.45pm.

Crews from Summerbridge used a ladder to safely retrieve the lamb.

Afterwards they posed for pictures with the lucky animal, which was small enough to fit inside one of their helmets.
