  • NHS figures have revealed 80 people who had contracted coronavirus have now died across the Stray FM area.

  • In total, there have been 48 deaths at Airedale General and 32 at Harrogate District Hospital.

80 people in the Stray FM area have now died from coronavirus.

The latest NHS figures reveal three patients at Airedale General passed away on Friday (17 April) and Saturday (18 April), taking the total number of deaths there to 48 since the outbreak began.

At Harrogate District Hospital, two deaths were confirmed over the weekend, with 32 now recorded there since the pandemic started.

Nationally, the number of people now known to have died in UK hospitals with Covid-19 is more than 16,000.

According to NHS figures released yesterday (Sunday, 19 April), that's a rise of 596 in 24 hours.

England reported its lowest daily rise for nearly two weeks of 482 - but we're told numbers are often lower on a weekend.

A statement from NHS England said:

"A further 482 people, who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 14,400.

Patients were aged between 34 and 104 years old.

6 of the 482 patients (aged between 52 and 92 years old) had no known underlying health condition.

Their families have been informed."
