Keyworkers and businesses in North Yorkshire who need Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are being advised to use an online portal to find suppliers who can provide them with what they need.

There have been concerns across the UK about the availability of masks, visors and other equipment that can help protect keyworkers from COVID-19, with some NHS staff being told to reuse masks and others reportedly making their own equipment.

The website PPE Exchange is being run by volunteers and connects companies who have stocks of the equipment, with those who need it.

Clark Williams from Northallerton is helping to coordinate it:

"For those who need PPE, we urge them to register at ppeexhange.co.uk, where we have just under 3000 suppliers across the UK and internationally who can fulfill PPE demands very quickly. Some are donating it, some are selling and some are doing a mixture of both. But the key message is to go to the portal and seek what you need.

It's aimed at health care workers but  it's also applicable to charities and those who are classed as key workers - anyone who is allowed to be out under the government guidelines.

Workers and companies can come to this portal and get PPE. We have a broad mixture of companies and individuals doing that."
