Coronavirus: Harrogate boy dancing for 12 hours to raise money for NHS

Published by Harry Long at 8:19am 30th April 2020.

A 14 year-old boy from Harrogate is dancing for 12 hours today to raise money for the NHS.

  • 14-year-old George Papadopoullos is doing a 12-hour "danceathon" today (Thursday, 30 April).
  • It's to raise money for the NHS.
  • He's started at 8am and will finish in time for the Clap for NHS this evening.

George Papadopoullos started at 8am and hopes to finish in time for the Clap for NHS this evening.

He'll be doing some of the "danceathon" on Zoom, and has set up a JustGiving page where people can donate.

George will be dancing the BBO Dance syllabus.

He was supposed to be taking dance exams, but they were cancelled because of the coronavirus outbreak. In addition to that, he was also due to be dancing with the English Youth Ballet in Darlington over Easter.

George's sister Eva and his mum Kath will be helping him out.

Kath said:

"He's going to be basing a lot of his day on re-dancing all of the BBO Dance Balley exams that he's taken, so he's going to be dancing right from grade 1 to grade 5.

"His sister Eva is going to join in - I'm going to be doing my bit by doing some dancing in the kitchen!

"We're raising funds for NHS Together, which is the group of different NHS charities, so hopefully the money that we raise will go to the places that it's needed most at the moment."

You can donate on George's JustGiving page.
