Signs 'Is your journey essential?' pop us across North Yorkshire

  • Road signs reminding visitors not to visit North Yorkshire's beauty spots have been put up.
  • They've been installed across key routes in the county.
  • It follows a number of people still descending on beauty spots despite a national lockdown.

Dozens of high visibility road signs have been installed across key routes in North Yorkshire.

It's the latest move to stop visitors descending on the county’s beauty spots during the national lockdown.

Chair of the multi-agency North Yorkshire Local Resilience Forum, Richard Flinton, said

“Essential journeys do not include the sort of examples we continue to see.

If you come here under those circumstances, you are putting lives at risk and you may well also pay the price with a fine.

These escalate in penalty for repeat offenders."
