Want to remember what life in lockdown was like?

  • A Burley-in-Wharfedale photography business is documenting life on lockdown.
  • Soul & Co will send a photographer to pass by people's homes and capture photos of their family on their doorstep.
  • The images will then be sent to the homeowner who can save them to remember 2020.

A photography business from Burley-in-Wharfedale is capturing life on lockdown.

Whilst out for daily exercise, a photographer from Soul & Co will arrange to pass by people's homes and take photos of families on their doorstep.

The images will then be sent to the homeowner for free and perhaps saved in a memory box, marking 2020 and what life was like during the coronavirus lockdown.

Director of Soul & Co, Nicola Holmes says:

"We're a family-run businesses which has been affected by coronavirus - sadly we lost all our work overnight when the pandemic hit.

"But we wanted to use our time productively and positively so we started taking our cameras out with us on our daily exercise.

"We've been offering free photoshoots to the community on their doorsteps - all at a safe distance.

"At the moment, we've been covering Burley, Ilkley, Addingham and Menston.

"We've had great feedback from those who've taken part - they've said it really lifts their spirits, it's been a reason to get dressed, do their hair and make up and others haven't had a chance to do a family shoot before so it's been a great experience."

Nicola added:

"The photos we're taking are mainly family portraits - sometimes the family gets their pets involved.

People have used it as an opportunity to send a message or make an annoucement - last week, we had a family who announced a pregnancy which was really exciting."

Nicola concluded:

"We always do it at a safe distance - so we're often stood at the gate, fence, hedge or even on the edge of the driveway.

"To best the best images for this we use a zoom lense and it's come in really handy during lockdown."
