Man found collapsed near Knaresborough pronounced dead at scene

Police were initially called to reports of a collision on Saturday morning, but now believe no vehicle was involved.

  • Officers attended the scene on Farnham Lane shortly before 9am.
  • A man was found collapsed at the side of the road and was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • A post mortem is due to be carried out, but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

 

Police have released an update on an incident near Knaresborough on Saturday morning.

They say they were initially called to Farnham Lane, between Boroughbridge Road and Farnham village, to reports of a collision.

Officers found a man collapsed at the side of the road, and he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

But they now don't believe that any vehicle was involved in the incident, and they don't think there are any suspicious circumstances.

A post mortem is due to be carried out to establish the cause of the man's death.

In the meantime, anyone who saw a man who was wearing a distinctive camouflage type rucksack and walking or running along Farnham Lane on Saturday morning is asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, press option two and pass information for Traffic Sergeant Andy Morton.
