A drive-through coronavirus testing centre has returned to Harrogate this weekend.

Testing for key workers and their households took place at Harrogate Hydro car park yesterday (Saturday, May 16) and will again today (Sunday, May 17).

The North Yorkshire Resilience Forum has arranged for the return of the testing centre and have warned people to not just turn up but make an appointment first.

Coronavirus

Organised by the Department of Health and Social Care, working with the armed forces, the site will open between 11am and 3pm.

Tests can be arranged through the government’s coronavirus testing webpage.

Those who are eligible for a test include key workers who are self-isolating because they are within the first five days of displaying coronavirus symptons.

The tests are also available for key workers who are self-isolating because someone else in their household is displaying symptoms. The householder displaying the symptoms can also be tested at the site with the key worker.

Coronavirus

The testing site will also be available for children of key workers, aged between 12 to 18, who are showing symptoms.

These tests will need to be conducted by the parent. Advice will be given at the Jennyfield Drive site.

Eligible key workers will need to bring their work ID and confirmation of test booking with them to verify their role and will need to attend in their own household vehicle.

Those arriving without identification or arriving on public transport, taxis or walking will not gain access to the site will not be able to undergo a test.

Testing was previously held on the car park on Tuesday, May 5.
