A family from Knaresborough has been running laps of the town to raise money for Harrogate District Foodbank.

  • A Knaresborough family ran laps of the town for 24 hours to raise money for Harrogate District Foodbank.
  • The Morlands family has raised more than £2,800 so far.
  • They took turns to complete the 135-mile run earlier this week.

Steven and Catherine Morland, along with their three boys - Luke (20), Elliott (17), and Isaac (12) -  took it in turns to run laps around Knaresborough over a 24 hour period earlier this week.    They ran 135 miles in total, taking only short breaks for sleep and food.

They have raised more than £2,800 so far.

The foodbank provides nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred in a crisis.

"The idea came from last year - my husband and I are runners, we're in Knaresborough Striders.  Last year we took part in a 24-hour relay where you got into teams and you ran in your team overnight, taking it in turns.

"The approximate route was three and a half miles.  We decided the easiest way to do it, because we're all different speeds, was to say you had to go out for 40 minutes.  So if you fancied going a bit faster then you'd do an extra couple of laps before you came home again."
