The biggest match in Harrogate Town's history

Harrogate Town are set to face Boreham Wood in next Saturday's (25th July) National League play-off semi-final behind closed doors.

  • Victory for Town will see them head to Wembley on August 2nd.
  • Town's Hertfordshire opponents have the upper hand between the two sides this season having drawn 1, won 1.
  • Town manager Simon Weaver describes this as the biggest match in the club's history.

Harrogate Town now know they will face Hertfordshire side Boreham Wood in the National League play-off semi-final at the CNG stadium a week today (25th July).

"The Wood," as they are known to their fans, beat Halifax Town on Friday night (17th July) 2-1 to progress in the play-offs and victory for either side next weekend, will result in a trip to Wembley.

Harrogate Town manager Simon Weaver has expressed how pleased he is with his squad since training resumed at the CNG stadium, although goalkeeper James Belshaw is battling with a stiff back and as Saturday draws closer, Simon is also keen for his players to be vigilant with Coronavirus still very much a risk.

All players and staff will once again be tested before the play-off semi-final and Simon knows all too well that it only takes one to come back positive and the match would be called off.

Town on Twitter

Even though Town have home advantage, it'll be a very different style of game in front of the TV cameras considering no fans are allowed, just cardboard cut outs. Plus, the Harrogate squad are restricted to using the changing rooms due to Covid-19. New rules set in place due to the pandemic, state that the away team need to have use of BOTH changing rooms at the CNG. So work has been taking place in haste to transform the 1919 bar into a make-shift home dressing room; something that physio Rachel Davis has relished doing and Simon Weaver thinks the players may prefer their new-look surroundings in comparison to original changing rooms.

You can listen to Stray FM's Pete Egerton who caught up with Simon Weaver yesterday (Friday 17th July) ahead of the Boreham Wood Vs Halifax Town fixture.
