Coronavirus: Ilkley library to offer 'order and collect’ service

Coronavirus: Ilkley library to offer 'order and collect’ service

Published by Harry Long at 1:26pm 22nd July 2020.

Ilkley library is joining other libraries in the Bradford District by offering an 'order and collect’ service.

  • An 'order and collect’ service will be available at Ilkley library from early August.
  • It allows customers to reserve books and collect them at an agreed time slot.
  • The service is already  available at Keighley and Burley-in-Wharfedale libraries.

It allows customers to reserve books from the Bradford Libraries’ online catalogue, as well as by email or phone.

Customers will be able to collect their book orders at an agreed time slot from libraries that are open. There will be a single collection point in each library and customers will also be able to return their books.

The service is already available at Keighley and Burley-in-Wharfedale libraries.

Bradford Council has planned for a gradual, phased approach to reopening libraries that prioritises the safety of staff and customers.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said:

“We are working hard to prepare for rollout to all libraries as soon as reasonably possible and really looking forward to welcoming our customers back again. We’d like to thank customers for their patience and understanding at this difficult time.

“We’ve seen over 1,000 books reserved and borrowed in the first two weeks of offering the Order and Collect service and we are really pleased that we will be able to offer this service to more of our customers across the district who have missed using the library.”
