Macmillan Cancer Support has launched a fundraising appeal to provide a benefits adviser in Harrogate.

3,100 people in North Yorkshire are diagnosed with cancer each year and most of them will face extra costs as a result of their illness.

The adviser will offer specialist advice to help ease their concerns, including information on benefits, tax credits, grants and loans.

Harrogate Fundraising Manager Roohi Lupton has spoken to Stray FM about the appeal:

Sue Lennon is a Urology Cancer Nurse Specialist and Psychosexual Therapist who will support patients at the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre:

Rebecca Alderson, from Wetherby, was diagnosed with cancer in 2008 and explains how Macmillan has helped her:

Colette Lain explains why she started volunteering for the charity:

  More information is available by calling 0300 1000 200 or e-mailing rlupton@macmillan.org.uk
