Parents in the Harrogate District are coming together to support families who have experienced premature birth.

We've been featuring the stories of babies born into special care.

Now, a group of parents are preparing to launch the District's first branch of a support group backed by national charity Bliss, which has the tag line 'for babies born too soon, too small, too sick'.

The group aims to provide support for families and ensure that vulnerable babies not only survive but go on to have the best possible quality of life.

Founder member Belinda Brearton, whose son Luke was born early, says talking to other parents has been a big help: "It's just fantastic because you're meeting other mums in the same position, you don't feel so isolated within the community."

Explaining the benefits, Emma Burns, whose son Jacob was born into special care, added: "I know that I'll get lots of support but also that I'm probably going to make some life-long friendships."

Manraj Kaur Sanghera has seen all three of her children born early and was inspired by the help she received from Bliss to launch the new group.

She said: "The experiences are so positive and you learn so much from what you've been through. Passing on that knowledge to others is a comfort and it's inspirational as well."
