LISTEN: Apprentice 2016 - Ruth Whiteley's ones to watch

The Apprentice returns to our screens tonight with 18 brand new candidates.

Once again, they'll be put through their paces hoping to secure Lord Sugar's £250k investment in their business plan.

The nine men and nine women come from a range of careers and backgrounds, from bakeries and business consultancy to property and IT.

Who better to cast their eye over the contestants than someone who knows all to well what it's like to face the boardroom.

Harrogate's Ruth Whiteley (pictured above at last week's Thrive Yorkshire) lasted until week four in last year's series and was perhaps best known for her colourful business suits.

She's been pulling no punches, in an interview with Stray FM, referring to two contestants as a "a bit scary", while another "just leaves me cold".

Here are some of Ruth's snap judgements:

Frances Bishop

Age: 25
Occupation: Owner, Children’s Clothing Company

Ruth: "You've got to love a northerner."

Karthik Nagesan

Age: 33
Occupation: Owner, IT Consultancy

Ruth: "Will he have the personality? I don't know."

Dillon St. Paul

Age: 37
Occupation: Art Director, Fashion Magazine

Ruth: "A tinker."

Samuel Boateng

Age: 27
Occupation: Sales Manager, Major Car Brand

Ruth: "Either he's incredible or he's talking rubbish."

Alana Spencer

Age: 24
Occupation: Owner, Cake Company

Ruth: "A bit scary."

You can catch the full chat with Ruth on Stray FM Home Time with Will Smith after 4pm today.
