Yorkshire cricket clubs badly affected by the recent floods are set to get support from a new taskforce.

The team, which is led by Yorkshire captain Andrew Gale, Chief Executive Mark Arthur and former player Neil Hartley, will provide help with making insurance claims, raising money and getting facilities ready for the new season.

A special appeal has also been set up to raise further funds.

Andrew Watson, Executive Director of Yorkshire Cricket Board, said: "It has been a traumatic time for those communities affected by the recent floods that have shocked the region.

"In all, 19 clubs across the county have expressed support and all these clubs have been contacted. They will need a substantial amount of work and resource to get them in any position to host any cricket this summer.

"We will work hard to ensure we provide them with the necessary backing, both financially and through the taskforce, to make a difference.

"Andrew Gale and Mark Arthur have donated £100 each to get the fundraising started and we have had substantial pledges of support from the professional players at the club.

"We hope that we can encourage Yorkshire cricket supporters across the country and beyond to dig deep and donate what they can to help these community clubs in their hour of need."
