The new Cool Runnings: Brazilian bobsleigh team trains in North Yorkshire

Despite their home country hosting the Olympics, a group of Brazilian athletes have swapped Rio for North Yorkshire.

The Brazilian bobsleigh team are currently training at Camp Hill Estate near Bedale - because it has an Olympic-standard push-start track.

They are currently preparing for the World Push Championships in Romania next month.

According to one of the team - Edson Bindilatti - "[Back home] it's so difficult training together...Brazil doesn't have a push track."

They're being trained by former bobsleigh world champion Nicola Minichiello.

She told Stray FM about their determination to improve: "They've got £150 per week for food and to keep the costs down they're staying on mattresses on the floor in our house.

"It's really not about the financials, they are trying desparately to raise more money but at the moment they're doing whatever it takes and living in whatever conditions to help make the improvements they need."

We wish them well in Romania!
