Harrogate Town currently sit second in the National League North table, but only two points behind the league leaders Salford City, manager Simon Weaver has high hopes of promotion and boosting the crowd at the CNG stadium.

Since the age of five, Simon Weaver has been a huge supporter of the beautiful game and has fond memories of going to watch Sheffield Wednesday, stood on a box that his dad made in order for him to see the Owls in action at Hillsborough and then at just ten years old he joined the club.

Fast forward fifteen years, Simon began to run a few coaching sessions in South Yorkshire for children and it was from that point, he started to carve a new path for himself within the sport which has now resulted in his current position at Harrogate Town.

Honesty is the best policy

Simon admits that having experienced life as a player, it helps massively when sitting down with the players to discuss tactics and likes to think he treats the team exactly how he expected to be treated when playing, which didn't always happen during his career.

He admits that it's not nice dropping players from the team, but even though they don't like to hear it's because they had a bad game previously, they at least respect and appreciate his honesty.

Love for the CNG Crowd

Simon admits that when you're winning, it's great being in the dug out because the fans love you and "our fans have been brilliant!"

However, as all football managers know, when the results are not going your way, you're public enemy number one and some of the abuse aimed at the dugout can go beyond football and become far too personal and uncalled for.

Going forward, Simon hopes for promotion either this season or next and more support for Harrogate Town at the CNG stadium.
