Published at 7:01am 24th April 2019.

For the first time, amateur riders will be able to compete at Bramham International Horse Trials.

  • A new competition's being launched at this year's event
  • For the first time, Arena Eventing will take place on Sunday 9th June in the Obelisk Paddock
  • The competition will include show jumping and cross country
  • Organisers say it'll give budding amateur equestrians the chance to get a feel of what it's like to compete

New for this year at the Equi-Trek Bramham International Horse Trials will be Arena Eventing in the Obelisk Paddock all day on Sunday, 9 June.

Competitors will take on a course of show jumps and then immediately on to a cross country round.

There will be a final joker fence to test the competitor’s mettle and the horse’s accuracy and ability before the finish awaits.

There will be two classes; 90cm in the morning and 100cm in the afternoon.

Organisers say they expect demand will to be high for this opportunity to compete on the same ground as some of the world’s elite eventing riders.

Event Director Nicholas Pritchard commented:

“The whole team is really excited by this new competition. What an amazing opportunity for the talented amateur and grass roots riders out there to be a part of the event and rub shoulders with the eventing greats. Tales will be told for years to come about ‘when I rode at Bramham’…even if it wasn’t quite the main event! We’re delighted to welcome Saracen Horse Feeds who are equally excited to get behind this new venture and bring a touch of Bramham magic and prestige to more riders.”

More information is available on about the competition.
