"My mind would explode with joy, happiness and pride"

  • Harrogate Town face AFC Fylde in their first ever National League play-off match
  • Town are three victories away from reaching the football league
  • AFC Fylde have the league's top scorer
  • Harrogate Town are the league's overall top scoring team

Harrogate Town manager Simon Weaver is aiming to take the National League play-offs "one step at a time" as his squad of players get set to take on AFC Fylde in front of the BT Sport cameras, Wednesday 1st May at 7PM at Mill Farm, Wesham.

Town secured a play-off place with victory in their final home game of the season; a two nil win over Gateshead and then a narrow defeat at Wrexham followed on Saturday 27th April with a much changed team.

Out the window

Harrogate Town have drawn once and lost once during the season against AFC Fylde. However, despite the opponents, known as "the coasters," having the National League's top scorer Danny Rowe in their squad, Weaver believes that form goes out of the window for knock-out matches and is happy that his team, with a tally of 78 goals among them, are the league's top scorers and can be more than a match for any team on their day.

The road to Wembley

Simon Weaver admits that it's hard not to dream at times and if Town did reach Wembley and then win, his mind "would explode with joy, happiness and pride" as the team would achieve what many, nine months ago, would have deemed nearly impossible at this stage in the club's history.
