To celebrate the brand new menu at Mother Shipton's Inn Knaresborough, Stray FM sent the evening shows James Stanley to try it out.

I love great pub grub and I was very much looking forward to trying out Mother Shipton's in Knaresborough.  It's a location I've driven past many times going to and from Harrogate and Knaresborough.  When I was invited down I jumped at the chance.

As soon as you drive up you see the character of the venue oozing out.  It sits perfectly in it's surrounds and it continues as you step inside.  The location has had a huge amount of investment and has a real warm feeling.  Straight away we received a really warm welcome and shown to our seats near the roaring fireplace, I was in my element.

We were shown the menu, but for some reason, I'd decided the night before that I really wanted pie.  I'd even told Hayley my wife, "I hope they do pie, I really want a pie."  Well, I was in for a treat!  Sam, one of the owners and chef told me the special that day was a lamb pie - choice made!

As I sat chatting with my colleague whilst waiting for our food we took in the surroundings including a table that was actually used by Guy Fawkes, see below if you don't believe me!

Guy Fawkes Table

Our food arrived and I was not disappointed.  The steak pie was filled with delicious meat, smothered in a gorgeous gravy.  Chunky chips a fine selection of vegetables.

Everything about Mother Shipton's Inn Knaresborough makes me think its the perfect place to come for a delicious meal that is more than just the ordinary 'pub grub.'  This is the next step up with a seasonal menu with all your favourites as well as a few dishes you wouldn't expect but would love.

The delicious food at Mother Shipton's Inn

Whether you want to enjoy a nice meal with your other half, or a trip with the family for Sunday lunch this is the perfect spot for you.  Try their Cask marked approved ales and don't miss the top selection of events throughout the year.  Expect great food, great atmosphere and an all around great experience.

On top of that, this place is steeped in history.  Just ask the landlord and he'll tell you all about some of the incredible stories.

Highly recommend a visit!
