Yorkshire's bracing itself for very windy weather today.

Live updates

We're going to end the live updates for now, as the wind appears to be dying down.

If anything major breaks we'll let you know!

Sutton Bank open

Following earlier shed load. A meat lorry apparently.

Travel chaos in Harrogate

And those power outages are causing issues around the Hookstone area of Harrogate, with lights at Oatlands and Woodlands still out.

Our power's back! Again

Thanks for bearing with us if you're listening on FM, DAB or online - the power cuts have affected our output this afternoon.

The power has gone again stemming from an earlier outage affecting South Harrogate. Businesses, homes and traffic lights are all affected.

Power issues return in Harrogate

We know this because, well, our office power has gone off.

We'll keep investigating.

Here's why the A56 was closed earlier today

A56 Reopened

The earlier fallen tree in Thornton-in-Craven has now been cleared and you can drive to Lancashire care free (if you really want to)

Sutton Bank closed

A lorry shed its load earlier this afternoon, closing the steep ascent and descent into the North York Moors.

Sutton Bank remains closed and alternate routes are incredibly busy.

A56 Closed

The A56 remains closed in both directions at the junction of Old Road in Thornton-in-Craven.

This follows a tree hitting a vehicle around 2:30pm this afternoon.

Woodlands Traffic Lights out

The traffic lights on Wetherby Road, at the Woodlands Pub in Harrogate, are out causing travel issues as people look to head out of town at the end of the working day.

This follows the earlier power cuts that affected much of the South of Harrogate.

Earlier information from the Met Office

The Met Office has warned of a danger to life as Storm Ali brings winds up to 75mph to parts of the UK today.

Forecasters are predicting a very windy spell of weather, with travel disruption, power cuts and damage to buildings expected.

Weather warnings have been issued for parts of the country.

Met Office spokesperson said:

"Flying debris is likely and could lead to injuries or danger to life".
