Everything you need to know about the fourth day of cycling for the UCI Road World  Championships, as two events finish in Harrogate.

  • The cycling continues on Tuesday 24th September 2019.
  • Both the Men’s Under 23 and Elite Women’s Individual Time Trials take place in the Harrogate Borough.
  • The races start in Ripon and end in Harrogate Town Centre.
  • Road closures begin from 08:00 and end by 18:00.

Which races are taking place at the UCI World Championships on Tuesday 24th September?

There are two races taking place on Tuesday 24th September, the day starts with the Men’s Under 23 Individual Time Trial and finishes with the Elite Women’s Individual Time Trial.

They start and finish from the following locations:

  • Ripon to Harrogate (30km): Men U23 individual time trial.
  • Ripon to Harrogate (30km): Women Elite time trial.

Where and when are the roads closed for the UCI Road World Championships on Tuesday 24th September?

There will be a number of road closures throughout the day.

  • Amber means the race route is closed but designated route crossing and access points are open.
  • Red means the race route and designated route crossing and access points are closed.
  • Outside of red and amber times the roads are open.

Harrogate Road Closures

As Harrogate is the finish and main hub for all UCI Road World Championship events, there are longer road closures in place.

On Tuesday 24th September 2019 the road closures in Harrogate will be as follows:

A59 (Skipton Road)/New Park/Ripon Road (Hydro) (repeated from above)

Amber: 09:15 - 10:00
Red: 10:00 - 13:00
Amber: 13:00 - 14:30
Red: 14:30 - 17:00
Amber: 17:00 - 17:45

Ripon Road Hydro to Parliament Street/Swan Road/Crescent Road (repeated from above)

Amber: 8:30 - 10:00
Red: 10:00 - 13:00
Amber: 13:00 - 14:30
Red: 14:30 - 17:00
Amber: 17:00 - 18:15

Kings Road & Cheltenham Parade (A61)

Open: 00:00 - 09:30 and 12:30 - 14:00
Completely closed: 09:30 - 12:30 and 14:00 - 17:00

Parliament Street (A61) & West Park (A61)

Open: 00:00 - 07:00
Completely closed: 07:00 - 19:00

There's managed access to these roads outside of these times for residents/businesses but West Park remains closed until 1st October

DAY 4 ROAD CLOSURES HARROGATE AREA

Where can I watch the cycling at the UCI World Championships on Tuesday 24th September?

The UCI Road World Championship Fan Zone will also be open from 09:00 - 18:30, including views of the finish, televised race action on the big screen, entertainment and loads of stalls. The Fan Zone will be located on the West Park Stray.

You are welcome to watch from any part of the route on the side of the road - just make sure you stay safe and back from the road! For the best spots to see all the action watch the video below!
