All you need to know about the competition, as Wetherby hosts the first ever Para-Cycling International race which will take place alongside the UCI Road World Championships

Which races are taking place at the 2019 Para-Cycling International on Saturday 21st September?

The competition will start in the afternoon as thousands of athletes arrive in Wetherby to take part in the competition.

The five races with varying lengths and difficulty level, will all finish in Harrogate.

  • Wetherby (41km) - C1-3 Women’s Race at 3pm
  • Wetherby (28km) - T1-2 Men’s Race at 3.05pm
  • Wetherby (28km) - T1-2 Women’s Race at 3.05pm
  • Wetherby (41km) - H1-2 Men’s Race at 3.10pm
  • Wetherby (41km) – H1- 4 Women’s Race at 3.10pm

For spectators, there will also be a big screen with live race coverage - this can be found in the Fan Zone next to the Town Hall.

What's special about being a 'start' town?

Wetherby is a start town which means athletes taking part in the Para-cycling International event will be presented to the crowds. The cyclists then 'sign on' to show they have turned up and are ready to race.

This will happen right outside the Town Hall.

Members of the public will also be able to see the athletes warm up - giving people a chance to get up close to those taking part.
