From today (Wednesday, 18 September), West Park in Harrogate will be closed for 13 days for the UCI Road World Championships.

It's all part of preparations for the 9-day event which kicks off on Saturday.

Roads around Prince of Wales roundabout, Albert Street and Brunswick Place will be affected.

All races will finish in Harrogate so organisers are preparing the finishing line and creating a pedestrian bridge for spectators.

In addition, Harrogate town centre features the circuit - with the mixed team time trial taking place exclusively on the circuit and covers it twice - the men ride it, then the women.

As organisers prepare for the international event, the finish line will be closed from 6am today (Wednesday, 18 September) and remain closed until after the competition on Tuesday, 1 October.

Traffic management will also be put in place around it to support the championships.
