UCI: Men's Elite Road Race Route Changed

Today's weather warning for North Yorkshire has caused the race route for the final day of the UCI Road World Championships to be changed.

  • The route will go straight from Aysgarth to Leyburn
  • This means Bainbridge, Hawes, Buttertubs, Muker, Gunnerside, Reeth and Grinton Moor will be skipped.
  • It'll be made up with 9 laps of the Harrogate Circuit.
  • The race now starts at 9am.

Lots of fans will be disappointed today, as the final day of the UCI Road World Championships has had to be shortened.

The new route skips out large parts of the Dales, going straight from Aysgarth to Leyburn.

This means it will skip out Buttertubs and Grinton Moor, where loads of fans were expected to party.

It's because of bad weather - there's a weather warning in place across the County until 5, and flooding is expected to cause lots of issues today.

We'll update you with more throughout the day - keep an eye on our live blog.
