Conservative Andrew Jones will serve another term as MP for Harrogate and Knaresborough.

He retained the seat with a majority of more than 16,000 - in 2010, it was just 1,039.

In his victory speech, Mr Jones said it had been "a great privilege" to serve as MP and an "even greater privilege" to be re-elected.

He told Stray FM that the large majority was somewhat of a surprise:

Fellow Conservative Julian Smith kept hold of Skipton and Ripon:

Nigel Adams retained Selby and Ainsty, whilst Alec Shelbrooke claimed Elmet and Rothwell for the second time.

Kris Hopkins held onto Keighley.

In a rare piece of good news for the Liberal Democrats, Greg Mulholland kept his Leeds North West seat.
