Motorcyclist dies in collision near Settle

A motorcyclist has died in a collision near Horton-in-Ribblesdale.

It happened at around 7.25pm yesterday on the B6479 between Horton-in-Ribblesdale and Selside, half a mile before Selside. 

The motorcyclist, a 27-year-old man from the Blackburn area of Lancashire, was riding a grey Triumph Daytona towards Ribblehead Viaduct when he collided with a sign at the side of the road.

Police, paramedics and the air ambulance were called, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone who was travelling between Settle and Ribblehead Viaduct and saw the motorcyclist, who was riding with seven other motorcycles at the time, or witnessed the collision is asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting reference number 12150092405.
