The fourth annual Craven Community Champion Awards have been launched.

There are eight categories to celebrate unsung heroes who have made an outstanding contribution to arts and culture, sport and recreation, and creating a greener Craven.

One person will be chosen as Citizen of the Year to recognise their outstanding contribution during the past year.

Councillor Robert Mason, Chairman of Craven District Council, said: "The Council is proud to be running the Community Champion Awards again this year.

"It is a great opportunity for us all to show our appreciation to the many people who dedicate their time to helping others and who work hard for the benefit for us all. I would therefore urge everyone to nominate their local champion today and thank them for all their hard work.

"We would like to thank our sponsors for their continued generous support, without which the Craven Community Champion Awards would not be possible."

The winners will be announced at The Coniston Hotel on Thursday 29 October.

Award entries will close on Friday 4 September and nomination forms are available at www.cravendc.gov.uk/communitychampions
