Cycle race road closures warning

People in part of Craven are being warned about road closures for the Tour of Britain cycle race.

The second stage, which starts in Clitheroe and finishes in Colne on Monday 7 September, includes a section to West Marton and then on to Barnoldswick.

Most of the race route will be temporarily closed using rolling road blocks.

They could be in place between 20 minutes and an hour, depending on how big a distance there is between riders.

The main issue for people in West Marton will be a backlog of traffic on the A59 and A56 between approximately 1pm and 2pm.

In Colne town centre, road closures will be in place all day.

There will also be full road closures at the King of the Mountain locations in Earby and Barley, although these road closures will open up soon after the race passes.

A timetable on the Tour of Britain website shows when the race is due to arrive at certain points.

Anyone with concerns is urged to contact Pendle Borough Council on 01282 661661.
