North Yorkshire's Police and Crime Commissioner is understood to be among several threatening the Government with legal action over budget changes which could cost the force millions.

The Independent newspaper has reported seeing a letter to Policing Minister Mike Penning urging him to halt upcoming reforms which would affect areas already facing large cuts.

Under new calculations, it's thought that North Yorkshire Police could lose around 5% of its budget each year.

The changes are described as "unjustified" and "deeply flawed".

Police and Crime Commissoner Julia Mulligan is among seven PCCs said to have signed the letter which also issues a stark warning - that they'll seek a judicial review should their "grave concerns" be ignored.
