Tributes are being paid to Craven District Council's former Chairman who has died.

Councillor Andy Quinn represented his local community and home village of Embsay near Skipton.

He was elected in 2002, representing the Embsay with Eastby Ward, and was re-elected in May this year.

He served as Chairman of the Council in 2011/12, when he raised over £3,250 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Reg Vaux Snowdrop Appeal for research into mesothelioma.

Councillor Richard Foster, Leader of Craven District Council, said: "I am saddened by the news that we have lost a hard-working and dedicated Councillor. My thoughts are with Gill and the family.

"Andy will be sorely missed by all of us here at the Council and in his ward of Embsay."

Councillor Quinn sat as a member of the Standards Committee throughout his period of office, and also the Overview and Scrutiny Committee (renamed the Select Committee) for all but one year.

He was the current Vice-Chairman of that Committee.

He also sat as a member of the Licensing Committee for 10 years, taking on the role of Chairman of that Committee in 2010/11, 2012/13 and 2013/14.

Most recently, he also became a member of the Planning Committee in 2014/15.
