Poor weather failed to put a dampener on Skipton Christmas Market.

Around 12,500 people visited the town on Sunday for the event's second weekend.

That's on top of the 10,000 people and 72 coaches that turned out the week before.

The event takes place over consecutive Sundays as part of the annual Yuletide Festival, which is now in its 21st year.

Sunday's celebrations avoided the worst of the weekend's weather, which brought flash flooding to parts of Skipton on Saturday.

Dave Parker, Skipton Town Council's Chief Officer, said: "We were really pleased with it. We can all safely say that we were a bit nervous about the weather conditions leading up to the event again.

"We know a whole load of events had to be cancelled on the Saturday, but we were really lucky with the weather yesterday and I think we picked up a lot of people who may have been going elsewhere, as well as aiming to come to Skipton."
