Parents have declared temporary victory over bad parking outside a school in Ilkley.

Last week, parents and children stood outside the gates of Ashlands Primary and held banners urging motorists to think where they park their cars.

It came after one mum reported seeing eight near misses in the area around the school's entrance on Leeds Road in just one morning.

Emma Clarkson's four-year-old daughter, Maisie, was hit by a reversing motorist whilst trying to cross the road:

She was thankfully uninjured.

Since taking direct action, parents say the situation has greatly improved this week.

Wardens working for Bradford Council have been at the school in an attempt to deter parents from parking on double yellow or zig zag lines.
