A motorcyclist has died after a crash on the A65 near Clapham.

The 52-year-old man, from Shipley, was riding a red old-style Moto Guzzi which collided with a blue Peugeot 206 heading in the opposite direction.

It happened shortly after 12pm on Sunday and the biker was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Peugeot, a 43-year-old woman from Keighley, and her nine-year-old daughter who was in the front passenger seat, were taken to Airedale General Hospital.

Their injuries are not thought to be serious, but they were left badly shaken.

The road was closed for five hours whilst an investigation was carried out and the vehicles were recovered.

Police are keen to hear from witnesses or anyone who recalls seeing the car or motorbike before the collision.

The rider was wearing a black motorcycle suit and a distinctive white helmet with red and green stripes from the Italian flag.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Major Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 12160026930.
