One of North Yorkshire's leading community choirs is on the lookout for someone to lead its growing group of singers.

Rock Up and Sing! needs a new leader who can help members in Skipton develop their skills and continue to impress audiences.

Rhiannon Gayle, who established Rock Up and Sing! in Harrogate in 2009, now leads six choirs with more than 400 members.

She said: "With almost 100 members, and having been founded six years ago, the Skipton choir is very well-established.

"Many of the choir members have been with us since the beginning, but we also regularly attract new members who fit in very well with the existing group.

"We're now looking for an experienced singing teacher or musician who can help the group to develop even further.

"The choir members in Skipton are absolutely wonderful and full of enthusiasm, no matter what challenges they face. They sing well together, and the atmosphere at rehearsals is always friendly and welcoming.

"Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings, and we try to do at least a couple of concerts and events every year, so the choir members can prepare and perform together. The new choir leader needs to have great people skills, real commitment and a tremendous sense of humour."

Members of Rock Up and Sing! have twice recorded albums at Abbey Road Studios, whilst international concerts have seen them travel to New York and Prague, with a trip to Budapest planned for this autumn.
