AUDIO: Official report recommends fracking test site approval

An application for a fracking test site in North Yorkshire is being recommended for approval.

Developers Third Energy have identified a site they want to investigate near Kirby Misperton, with a view to extracting shale gas in the future.

A report assesses the environmental impact on people living nearby and their rights under the Human Rights Act and recommends approval be granted.

If successful, it would be the first time approval has been granted for a test site in North Yorkshire.

Over 4,000 people have already contacted the county council about it, with many of them opposed to the project.

A final decision won't be made until 23 May at the earliest.
