Final preparations have been taking place ahead of the start of this year's Aegon Ilkley Trophy. 

The tournament, at Ilkley Tennis Club, returns for its second year after sell-out crowds twelve months ago.

The event features male and female professionals from around the world.

Ahead of the event getting underway tomorrow, we caught up with Tournament Director Charlie Maunde:

A man caught driving at speeds of up to 150mph on the A1 with a three-year-old girl in his car has been jailed. 

31 year-old Thomas Birkbeck from Rotherham received a 32 month jail sentence.

North Yorkshire Police has released dashcam and helicopter footage of the pursuit, which happened on the 17th May.

More details have been released about Armed Forces Day in Skipton on June 26th. 

The Yorkshire Regiment is bringing a firing range and a climbing tower as well as their Corps of Drums display.

More than £3m has been granted to two North Yorkshire County Council bridge projects to help further protect them from flooding.

The funding was awarded by the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership. 

£1.4m has been given towards the County Council’s reconstruction of Tadcaster Bridge. The bridge partially collapsed due to the force of flood water following heavy rains over the Christmas period. 

£1.8m has been granted towards a £3.5m project to build a new bridge at Dalton to improve access to the village and safeguard jobs and support growth at Dalton Industrial Estate.


A teenager that was arrested in the early hours of yesterday morning in the Selby area has been charged with intent to wound.

It's after a woman was injured in the village of Carlton on Wednesday.

The victim remains in hospital in a stable condition.

The teenager is due to appear at York magistrates court this morning. 


Libraries aren't just about books, in this case they're about bikes as well.

You may remember the 'Bike Libraries' that opened following 2014's Tour de France designed to let people hire bikes for free.
