Ripon has hosted some of the most exciting, prestigious and enjoyable racing in the country for more than 300 years. It never fails to impress year on year with its outstanding back drop and exciting atmosphere. Always challenging itself to improve and build on spectator experience, Ripon has a lot to offer.

Over the season Ripon Racecourse stages 16 race meetings, several special events, hundreds of top runners and riders and we hope you will join us.

Ripon Racecourse, commonly known as the Garden Racecourse, is suitably located in one of the country’s most beautiful and quaint cities. With the market town being one of the oldest cities in England it is a great place to visit.

Yorkshire’s Garden Racecourse known widely for its picturesque surroundings was fittingly presented with the Gold Rose Award by the Yorkshire in Bloom; the county’s regional body representing the national Britain in Bloom campaign.

We are one of the few racecourses to boast a permanent giant screen, which is ideally located opposite the main stand adding to the excitement of each race; providing clear footage of the action.

With a multitude of attractions your race experience can easily be combined into a mini-break. A few favourites are- Fountains Abbey, Ripon Cathedral, The Forbidden Corner, Brimham Rocks, Newby Hall, Lightwater Valley Theme Park and Shopping Village.

They're also stepping up the gas for the first evening meeting on Friday 9th May, with the Theakston Mini Beer Festival . Located on the Paddock lawn, Theakston’s will be offering a variety of ales along with all the usual crowd pleasers such as ‘Old Perculiar’ & ‘XB’ along with some seasonal beers and ciders.
