Meet Amanda and Michael...

I, Amanda Clegg, would like to nominate myself and my fiancée Michael Williams for your win a wedding comp! We have been together for nearly 2 years, but after only 3 months together Michael was deployed to Afghanistan for a 6 month operational tour with the Army. His time in Afghanistan was the worst time of my life, the constant worry that something bad would happen to him, every day and night he would be on my mind...the hundreds of letters we wrote to each other got us both through this time apart.

He returned from his tour at the start of September 2008, my 27th birthday was on the 3rd October and he proposed to me, the emotion we both felt was enormous, not just because he had just made me so happy but because everything over the past 6 months hit us and how lucky we were to have him home. I of course said yes to his proposal, then to find out 2 days later that I was pregnant!!! That weekend was a shocker and we obviously hadn't wasted any time when he got home in Sep! We told family and friends straight away, it seemed like a gift to us after such a hard 6 months apart.

Hear a little more from Amanda and Michael...

Michael had to return to Germany where he was based with the Army for a couple of months after my birthday which was hard as we had to still let the shock that i was pregnant sink in! March 2009 and Michael left the Army which was good timing seeing as I was due in June 2009. Our gorgeous baby girl Evie was born on the 4th June 2009 and we were so happy but at 2 days old she chocked so bad we thought we were going to loose her, she was hospitalised for the night and luckily was fine after a good clear out.

Back at home things were perfect with our baby, but we were struggling with money with him leaving the army and struggling to gain full time permanent employment, we had to move into my mothers for 6 months and have only just left to rent somewhere of our own. Money is still tight with me been on maternity leave and Michael still on a temporary contract but with hopeful news of a permanent job to start in a months time.

We both feel that we have been through so much in the last 2 years and finally feel happy, safe and secure together, no more worrying about him been away, but we cannot afford our own wedding. We feel it would be the icing on the cake to win your wedding at the dower house, to make our little family of 3 complete and so I can have the same surname as my lovely fiancee and daughter. Thank you for taking the time to read my reasons, please consider us!!

Voting has no closed for the competition. The grand final will be broadcast live from the Dower House at Bond End in Knaresborough with Alex annoucing which of our 5 finalists will walk away with a prize worth thousands. Listen to 97.2 Stray FM on Thursday the 12th of November from 3pm to find out who wins!
